this is the most amazing story. →
I looked it up. it actually is a true story, and it’s being made into a movie.
{update: it’s actually a hoax. how disappointing!!}

that today might seem ordinary, but it is the best day of someone’s life. no matter what, someone, somewhere is having the time of her life today.

dare to think positive
– it’s totally worth the effort.
Lately, I've been thinking about all the time...
…dieting. ugh. I know I’m treading in dangerous waters here, but it just seems like such a waste sometimes, especially when taken to the extreme. I mean, I get it. junk food is bad, looking good feels great, and it really is SO annoying when last year’s dress is just a little too tight. and, yes, I know it’s a totally personal thing, a complex thing, wrapped up in our...

that the word for “privacy” in Italian is “privacy.” there isn’t even an Italian word for it. spend one day in an Italian household & you probably could have figured that out yourself.

car ride conversation
me: so are we getting JC [as in JC Chasez, formerly of *NSYNC] for the wedding?
my sister [who's getting married in January & was obsessed w/ JC in high school]: no, really? that was a joke.
my other sister: wait, that was supposed to my job!
bride sister: JC was going to sing my wedding song as a duet with Laurie [me].
other sister: a duet? this is going to be more complicated that I thought. we need to plan out rehearsal times... [turns to me] what if he's your true love?
me: OMG, falling in love while singing... can you imagine?
my dad: I can't believe this is my family.
I heart nerds.
there is the cutest couple sitting across from me in the library right now. they are so sweetly enthralled by what is going on on their computer screen. it’s adorable. nerdy couples in the library early on a saturday morning.

(actually just pastiche of a bunch of thoughts by older, wiser people. so I guess it’s not really my original. but really, is anything ever original? my prof once said, “there are 5 things to say in this world, and they’ve all been said before.” and I’m sure...
a language a year
so I had this crazy idea on my birthday last year, that I would learn a new language every year. I’ve already got 4 (umm, technically 5, if dialects count), and I’ve started my 6th. but which should I choose as my 7th for next year?
Here are my top choices:
1) Portuguese. it’s the only romance language I don’t speak. and I think it’s just so gorgeous sounding....
Listen to the mustn’ts child.
Listen to the don’ts.

16 yr-old cousin 1: 3G
16 yr-old cousin 2: 3G 3 GENERATION!!!
16-yr-old cousin 1: what? what?
16 yr-old cousin 2: you just got served. don't tell me you didn't just get served.

summer swing
12 yr-old, scrawny mosquito-bitten legs pumping as high as I could go. well, maybe not scrawny, but you get the picture.
tire swings make me yearn for summers in the backcountry.
