abbracciami

it’s one of my favorite Italian words.  it’s just so fun to say.  abbracciami.  abbracciami.  hey, you, abbracciami.  its colloquial translation is “hug me.”  but the verb abbracciare comes from the word braccio (meaning “arm”), so literally, it means “wrap your arms around me.”  doesn’t that just describe the feeling so perfectly?

everything you need to know about love you knew when you were 5.

You’ve probably all heard those sweet little quotes by kids waxing poetic on love.  They tend to circulate this time of year.  Part of me thinks they are hopelessly sappy, and part of me thinks they absolutely (and adorably) ring true.  Either way, here’s a reminder that everything there is to know about love, you learned before the age of 10.

“Love is what makes you smile when you are tired.”  - Boy, age 5

“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down, and little stars come out of your eyes.”  Girl, age 7

“Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other really well.”  -Girl, age 8

month of love.

as if I weren’t already completely obsessed with love, I decided to write one little post about love every day for the entire month of February.  yes, it’s a Hallmark holiday, yes, I shouldn’t need an excuse to tell all the people I love how much I love them, yes, yes, yes.  I get it.  And still, I love the idea, the feeling, the many manifestations of love.

so I hope you’re up for this little celebration of love.  family love.  dreamy, romantic love.  love in art & poetry.  old love. new love.  first love.  love lost.  love regained.  future love.  forever love.

this song is breathtakingly beautiful.

Justin Timberlake & Matt Morris sing Hallelujah at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon.  I’ve always loved this song, and hearing it as a duet makes it all the more beautiful.
